What can I expect at my first appointment?

We offer comprehensive consultations in a relaxing, friendly environment. On arrival you will you will be asked for your referral and completed patient registration forms if you haven’t already forwarded them to us.

You will see Dr Agar who will listen carefully to your concerns. He will examine you and discuss any relevant treatment or procedure you may require. You can ask questions and you will be given written information relevant to your procedure, if applicable.

Once you have seen Dr Agar you will be given a quotation for the cost of your surgery, should this be appropriate. If you decide to proceed with your procedure, a date will be arranged and you will be given the relative paperwork to complete.

Do I need a referral from my general practitioner?

Yes, you do require a referral from either your GP, specialist or dentist prior to arranging an appointment to see Dr Agar. A referral from your GP is current for 12 months and from a specialist for 3 months.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

Dr Agar’s waiting time is approximately six to eight weeks for routine appointments. Urgent appointments are available upon request from your referring doctor.

How much is my initial consultation?

Your initial consultation fee is $230.00 with a Medicare rebate of $76.80 of this from Medicare. This can be claimed by us directly from Medicare at the time of your appointment. A discounted rate of $170 is offered to those with a valid pension or concession card. Should Dr Agar need to perform an endoscopic procedure, ear clean or biopsy at your consultation a further fee will be payable.

Do I need private health insurance?

Private health insurance is advisable however Dr Agar is happy to see you if you are uninsured.
